Online Diagnostic Assessment (ODA) is a web-based tool developed by the Defense Language Institute to help foreign language learners evaluate and manage their learning in Arabic, Chinese,
Korean, Russian, Farsi, and other languages. ODA identifies the language learners' strengths and weaknesses in the language of study, and provides learners with individualized online feedback. All assessment texts are selected or adapted from authentic sources
in accordance with Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level descriptions.

In the fall semester of 2010 I began to teach Italian at Arizona State University - Downtown Campus. In order to develop and implement an academic program that would include the Italian elementary and intermediate level courses, I started
advertising the program utilizing any tool available at ASU. This presentation is a brief journal of my past year experience. I am including also the list of initiatives taken to advertise the program and which ones, in my opinion, have been more effective.

WF1 - Oral Proficiency Interview Familiarization Workshop (ACTFL) - For All Languages

Intended as an introduction to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, the ACTFL Rating Scale, and the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview, this workshop includes live demonstration interviews conducted by the trainer in English or the common language of the group.
Participants discuss the implications of the ACTFL Proficiency Scale and the Oral Proficiency Interview for establishing program goals, and for planning curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
